PROPOSALS ARE OPEN FOR ILYOUTH2’S AUTUMN BREAK CAMP!
ONE DAY PROPOSALS: Our Autumn Break Camp will run on an à la carte structure—this means that days are entirely separate from one another (in themes and mediums, as well as instructor, and camper attendance)!
THEME: FEATURED ARTISTS. For our autumn break camp, we’re asking artists to share an element of their own arts practice with our campers (this could be: a medium you use, a theme you explore, a way of working—anything related to your practice)! We ask that artists begin by sharing visuals of their own work (either by bringing in work, or using our projector) and speaking about their experiences as an artist, then taking the campers through projects and activities related to what you’ve shared!
DATES: November 24th, 25th, 26th, & 28th (potentially also the 29th & 30th).
TIME: Camp is 9am-3pm. Teaching artists arrive at 8:30am, and have a 30min break during campers’ lunch.
ENROLLMENT: Our minimum enrollment is 7 campers, and our maximum is 16; with ages ranging from 7—11 years old (occasionally 6, usually with a sibling).
LOCATION: Camp is in our Lloyd Center studio!
PROPOSALS: You are welcome to submit multiple proposals, but please use separate forms, and please indicate whether you’re hoping to lead both, or if it’s an either/or situation.
PAY: Teaching artists are paid $300 for the day, or $350 if the camp is fully enrolled.
DEADLINE: September 26th. ARTISTS WILL BE CONTACTED BY OCTOBER 1st.

We know putting together a proposal is a lot of labor in of itself, so here are some things we look for:
Evidence that you know how you will fill a full day of programming (with backups because sometimes kids move through things quickly!)
Specificity! (ie: telling us what projects you’d like to do, what artists you’d like to show the campers, etc—rather than just using broad terms).
Experience teaching youth, or, a demonstrated understanding of what support you’d need if you’re just getting started!
Clear idea of materials needed and cost.

Aside from items with an * (which must remain in place, and are led by ILYouth2 staff) camp days do not need to follow this structure, it’s just one that we have found works, so we like to share it!
8:30-9am : camper drop-off, instructor set-up*
9-9:15am : rules / agreements / check-ins*
9:15-9:45am : presentation (slide show, discussion, art share, etc)
9:45-10:30am : art activity block
10:30-11a : transition time & snack
11-12:00p : art activity block
12:00-12:30p : transition time & lunch*
12:30-2:00p : art activity block
2:00-2:30p : transition time & snack
2:30-3p : clean up & collective art share
3-3:30p: camper pick-up* (instructors welcome to leave if studio is cleaned up)
