INSTRUCTOR BIO: Arianna (she/her) I am a master’s level Art Therapy Counselor, and a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Oregon (although I am not practicing therapy right now. Previous to my current role, I was practicing therapy with children for 12 years). Currently my professional position is a dual role, split between being a school counselor and the art teacher at Bridges Middle School. Bridges is a school for 4th-8th graders who are neurodivergent or present with other learning challenges. My art teaching philosophy is creating projects that have a spectrum of levels of success - from being extremely simple to adding complexity or detail for those more advanced. I strive to help students be as independent as possible, and cater their art to their strengths. I try to be flexible with student interests and skills (i.e. a student doesn’t like drawing, could we print an image, or cut something from a magazine, and focus more attention on the building aspects rather than getting hung up on the drawing.)
