Monday, March 24th: CLAY with Erika Rier
Some ILYouth2 campers may recognize Erika as a zine & book maker, but now she's here to teach us about clay! Erika will share about her own ceramics practice, then campers will spend the day exploring the different stages of clay. Campers will get opportunities to work with wet clay and make different little vessels, as well as to paint some pre-made dried pieces and glaze some bisque fired plates! Erika will fire and process all of the campers' pieces and they'll be ready for pickup 2-3 weeks after camp!
Erika Rier is a self-taught interdisciplinary artist creating paintings, ceramics, and art zines in a style she calls folk surrealism. Writing was her first love and she still secretly writes stories. Having lived in Maine, Vermont, Connecticut, NYC, Arizona, and Washington state; Erika now resides in Portland, OR. She also has one of each of the following: a husband, a daughter, and a cat she found in a hallway.
