A Shapeshift Studio Prom
for therians, furries, and otherkin
ages 10-17
May 23rd, 6-9pm

PROM AGREEMENTS:

All youth must behave in a way that is safe, respectful, kind, and appropriate for a mixed middle and high school social setting.
There will be no hating on therians, furries, otherkin, or other communities. We’re all here to have fun in shared community.
No weapons, drugs, alcohol, or outside food/drinks.
Youth must stay in the designated areas of the building.
If behavior or dancing looks questionable or inappropriate, it will be stopped, and may result in youth and/or couple being asked to sit for a 10 minute break.
Inability or refusal to follow expectations and agreements may result in immediate removal from the event and parent notification.

Attire can be fancy or casual! Come in what you feel most confident and comfortable in, whether that’s representative of your theriotype, kintype, fursona, a cosplay, or just a fun outfit!
Masks/tails/paws/ears/fursuits/wings/etc encouraged but not required!
We ask that outfits be appropriate for a mixed middle and high school social setting.

All youth attending must have a signed prom liability waiver (we will email it to you prior to the event).
Youth may not leave the event unless they’ve been signed out by an authorized adult, or have independent release permission (this will all be on your the liability waiver).
There will be a minimum chaperone:youth ratio of 1:10, and a maximum of 50 youth.
Snacks and beverages will be available (included with ticket).

Please note that prom will not be at the ILYouth2 studio in the mall, it will be at the Portland Institute of Contemporary Art (PICA), 15 NE Hancock St. Portland, OR, 97212.
Prom will be IN Satpreet Kahlon’s installation an imagined place (here and now), an artwork that is “an immersive exploration of fugitivity, deep space time, geologic memory, and possibility”. You can read more about it here.

Prom will be a chance to dance and hang out with other therians, furries, and otherkin! We’ll have space to dance, space to sit, a photo booth, and a place to hang out and make art, with drawing materials and pony beads.
Our usual Shapeshift Studio hangout in our art studio is more of a craft time, while Moonbeam Metamorphosis will be more like a typical prom.

Nope! This event is for youth 10-17 only! Thank you for understanding.
(Note: most of our Shapeshift Studio community is 11-14!)

It is not required to be a therian, furry, or otherkin to attend! This event is meant to center therians, furries, and otherkin, but is open to youth who are interested in these communities, or whose friends/partners/etc are a part of this community!

Shapeshift Studiois a monthly creative hangout for therians (furries and otherkin welcome) ages 10-17 at ILYouth2.
We will have our usual Shapeshift Studio (in our studio at the mall) from 12-3pm on May 23rd, if folks want to use that time to make masks for prom or get ready together!
(It is also the weekend of Furlandia if folks want to check that out!)
